Puppy Development Program
BOOK NOW!
Welcoming a new best friend into your family is a beautiful experience. Developing your puppy and the relationship that you have with them will lay a strong foundation for a life of harmony with your four legged-friend. During this process it is important for us to remember that you have welcomed a dog into your family. A little being that doesn’t understand our world, or our language, and will do doggy things.
Because we speak a different language to them, sometimes the sailing may be a little bit rocky. Our dogs weren’t born into this world automatically knowing how to sit or not to jump. This is where we can help them learn via the avenues of home management and safe handling in a teachable way.
During the process of helping them regulate through this big wide world, you will rely on your relationship and communication more than ever.
Through our puppy development program we aim to guide you through all of the ups and downs of owning a puppy, not only developing your dog, but also your relationship with your dog.

what to expect

it's more than 'just' dog training
a little why behind why we do what we do
Reading a beautiful book by Garbor Matè on ADD and brain development in children, I came across a section which incapsulates our puppy development program perfectly.
It's very normal that the general public is under the spell that puppies ( dogs ) need food and water a walk around the park a comfortable bed and they should be happy. I would add that most people also think that the MOST CRUCIAL thing a dog needs are commands SIT, HEEL, STAY, ROLL OVER. So because of this understanding people go and buy the blingiest harnesses, the fanciest food bowls AND make their dog "SIT" for this and "SIT" for that over and over, "HEEL" here and "HEEL" there and "STAAAAAYYYYYYY THERE, AHH AHH STAYYYYYYY"..........
All the while there has been little to no development on the relationship. No second thought on helping the dog, little to no guidance just expectancy, minimal empathy. Sure commands are important but they will only ever be as good as the foundations they are layed upon; YOUR RELATIONSHIP.
Imagine for your puppy who has just been taken from a litter, brought to a new place, new smells, family goes off to work or school and the puppy is left to deal with life. Its tough right from the get go.
So, a term we have adopted here at MBFA from Micheal Ellis is " stress enoculation" meaning guided through stress.
Just imagine if we could help our puppies during that critical learning period, and into adulthood by being their side by side, encouraging, building them up to be more resilient.
" your relationship with your dog is our biggest priority" -MBFA
